Cartoon / Caricature: Sketchbook Pro and Wacom Intuos Tablet Speed Painting
JephyrX is Jeff Curtis. After seeing all the cool “speed” drawings and paintings here…I decided to try one myself. I used Sketchbook Pro software and a Wacom Intuos tablet. The capture rate was set to 3000 ms (capturing a frame every 3 seconds) with a playback rate of 20 fps. I created the music in Acid, and edited the video using Sony Screenblast. : )
With CamStudio, Sketchbook Pro, Photoshop and my Wacom Intuios!
Plus art and computer art classes at a community college nearby…that helps too.
You might like the Eagle Speed Painting I just posted…check it out if you’d like.
@JephyrX
Heyy do you think a cintiq would make it easier for cartoon drawing or is the intuos good?
I have an intuos 4 but I’m still trying to get used to not looking where im drawing
I got used to the Intuos pretty quickly and really LOVE it. So I’d recommend to just keep trying and you’ll get it soon enough.
Regarding the Intuos: First, it’s WAY less money than the Cintiq. It’s much more portable. I use mine with a laptop and carry it in the same case.
2nd, with the Intuos your hand is NEVER in the way. It’s like being invisible.
With that said, a lot of people love the cintiq too.
Hope this helps.
Good to hear, im also using zbrush and whatnot for digital sculpting but I was actually thinking of using the wii remote with my hd tv to basically make a 30$ cintiq, only with no pressure sensitivity- but then I can reach down and use the intuos for anything that requires pressure, sound good?
Sure, what ever works best for you! I saw some fantastic art that a guy drew with a mouse, and have done that myself years ago.
With that said, I’m not sure I’d be very happy using something without sensitivity at this point. So I’d encourage you to keep trying as much as you can to get used to the tablet too.
Have fun!! BTW, I wanna start using zbrush myself!
